The Chicago Smelts are Chicago's mostly gay and lesbian Masters Swim Club, encouraging fun and participation in the sport of swimming. Members need not be gay or lesbian, but they should respect that most of the members will be.

The Chicago Smelts first formed in 1988. Visit the Smelts History page for more information on important milestones of the past 16 years. Our Mission Statement also says a lot about who we are and why we're here.

The Smelts try not to exclude anyone and welcome guests and non-members at all workouts. Follow the Joining Smelts link for more information on how to join and the benefits that come with being an official Smelt.

The Smelts is a fully volunteer organization, the result of many people working together. The Smelts are very talented group. Our logos are an example of this talent, created over the years by local artists who are also Smelts. Smelt Logos contains information on the artists who have created our logos over the years.
